The Story Behind the Owl Deck
From the very beginning, owls were part of our family story. My mother loved them with a kind of quiet wonder, and she showed them to us wherever we went — perched on fence posts at dusk, gliding over open fields, or sitting high in the branches along the road. We would stop and stare, children with wide eyes, mesmerised by their round faces and those deep, beautiful eyes that seemed to hold entire worlds inside them. That childhood awe never left. It grew with me, settled into my heart, and eventually became the foundation of the Owl Oracle Deck. Every card carries a piece of those moments — the magic of seeing an owl through my mother’s eyes, and the gentle wisdom they offered long before I knew I would one day create a deck in their honour.
About the Deck
The Hedgewood Owl Oracle Deck contains 36 cards, each featuring a real owl species. The deck is divided into six themed groups, with six owls in each:
Truth & Inner Knowing
Intuition & Inner Sight

Every card includes:
a real owl photograph,
the owl’s scientific name,

and a meaning inspired by the owl’s nature and behaviour.

short and long descriptions for all 36 owls,
symbolic explanations,
light and shadow aspects,
artist insights,
and a closing blessing from the owls.
